Wellness Is a Puzzle—And You Hold the Missing Piece
If you’ve ever felt frustrated trying to follow someone else’s wellness routine, you’re not alone. The truth is, wellness is a puzzle—and every woman starts with a different set of pieces. Your body, your schedule, your preferences, your season of life—all of it matters.
That’s why a DIY wellness reset isn’t about following a perfect formula. It’s about figuring out what you need next—because wellness is a puzzle, and your job is to find the pieces that fit you.
Unlike a traditional puzzle, though, this one is constantly evolving. You’ll never be “done” forever—because different seasons require different tools, and your puzzle might look different tomorrow than it does today.
Why Wellness Can Feel So Confusing
You might have tried cutting out sugar, tracking your macros, or doing 6 am workouts, and still didn’t feel better. Maybe those pieces worked for someone else. But they don’t complete your picture.
Here’s the good news: the fact that something didn’t work doesn’t mean you failed. It means that the puzzle piece didn’t fit. You need a new one, because wellness is a puzzle, and what works for someone else might not be your fit.
Start with the Piece That Matters Most
When everything feels like “too much,” it helps to zoom in.
Pick just one area to focus on. For most of my clients, it’s one of these:
- Sleep: You wake up tired, can’t fall asleep, or feel wired at night.
- Energy: You crash mid-afternoon or feel like you’re running on empty.
- Digestion: Bloating, irregularity, or that “off” feeling after meals.
- Stress: You’re stuck in go-mode and never really unwind.
There is no wrong place to begin. Choose the piece that feels the loudest—because wellness is a puzzle, and starting with just one piece is how clarity begins.
Gentle Is Powerful (Yes, Really)
We’ve been taught that change has to be extreme to count. But fundamental, lasting transformation comes from small shifts:
- Drinking water before coffee
- Getting outside for a 10-minute walk
- Adding protein and healthy fat to your breakfast
- Saying no to one extra commitment
Simple doesn’t mean ineffective. It means sustainable.
And don’t forget, joy itself is a powerful piece of the puzzle. Even tiny sparks of fun or playfulness can reset your energy and shift your perspective. I dive deeper into this in The Joy Factor: Why Fun & Play Matter for Your Health After 40.
You Don’t Need Another Trend—You Just Need What Works for You
Here’s the secret no one talks about:
The key to better health and happiness isn’t chasing the next shiny trend—it’s doing what works for you and actually sticking with it.
Even if your routine feels “basic” or unglamorous—like starting your day with lemon water and chia seeds, eating a protein-rich breakfast, or simply getting outside for a walk—that’s your magic formula.
✨ You don’t need to soul-search forever or make it Instagrammable.
✨ All you need is to trust that what supports you is enough.
Because wellness is a puzzle—and you already hold the missing piece. Sometimes that missing piece isn’t another supplement or stricter rule — it’s joy. I wrote about this in The Joy Factor, where I share why fun and play are essential for energy and health after 40.
